THE DAVALOS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
“This scholarship award is very special for my parents, because it recognizes their compassion of helping others throughout their lives,” said Eugenia Davalos. “I strongly believe that if my parents were still alive today they would very much be proud of the work that the Princess Closet has done over the past two years. That is why I am happy to create this memorial scholarship that will go to assist a student in continuing her education.” By establishing a memorial scholarship, we hope to showcase another way that others can give to the Princess Closet Organization on behalf of their loved ones. But more importantly, it will also allow us to give a scholarship award to a college student. To qualify for the Davalos Memorial Scholarship, applicants must meet the same criteria as the Princess Closet scholarship, and also have served as a volunteer of the Princess Closet by fulfilling 40 community service hours. If a qualified applicant is chosen, the award will be given at the Princess Closet Annual Spa Dream Day Fundraiser, where the student must be present to accept the award.
Purpose: The Davalos Memorial Scholarship Fund is sponsored by Eugenia Davalos, daughter of Antonio and Rosario Davalos. In memory of her parents, who were always helping others in need. The scholarship supports high school senior young ladies who are involved in extracurricular activities, and volunteer in their community. The young lady must also be a volunteer for the Princess Closet. The experience of volunteering enables students to grow as leaders, and it also helps them develop their leadership skills. Through our scholarship program, our goal is to invest in students who despite their financial difficulties, realize the importance of giving back to other’s who are in need. We seek applicants who have dreams to accomplish and are passionate about their future.
Deadline: A completed application with a 500 word essay must be received by June 1, 2012. Scholarship will be awarded at the annual Spa Dream Day event in August, 2012.
